Have you been fortunate enough to get your hands on a gorgeous Mulberry Postman's Lock planner? Sadly, I have not, but I've had many customers who have. There are a few quirks to the fabulous range of Mulberry planners, so I'm here to give you all of the information you need if you're thinking of getting one, or you're looking for some refills.

The three main sizes

Mulberry do three main planners (or 'organisers' as they refer to them):

  1. The Pocket Book
  2. The Agenda
  3. The Planner

These are broadly in line with standard planner sizes, but it's a little more complicated than that...

The Pocket Book

The Pocket Book's dimensions are 7.5 x 12cm. This is closest to the standard pocket size, and the punching is the same. Refilling this size gives you a couple of options, and spoiler alert: one of them is the one I'd recommend.

I've been asked to make inserts in this size in the past, and I'm always happy to accommodate. However, it's not a standard size, so finding these online, other than from Mulberry will be a challenge. Instead of this, I would recommend a move to pocket size inserts - which in addition will give an additional 1cm of space. This makes a considerable difference in such a small planner. To make this work, top tabs may also be best to allow sufficient space for the pen loop. Moving to pocket size would also make inserts a lot easier to find, so once you've used the inserts it's supplied with, it's well worth considering.

The Agenda

This uses the standard A6 size - it's a true A6 planner with punching that matches any true A6 planner. While it sounds nice and simple, finding A6 inserts can be tricky due to the number of personal planners mis-sold as A6 planners (find out more here). My advice here would be to check the page dimensions of any inserts you consider purchasing, especially from Etsy or Amazon. A quick page dimension check may avoid the disappointment of personal-sized inserts arriving in the post.

The Planner

The Planner uses inserts that are slightly narrower than A5 - they have a width of 14.5cm compared to A5's width of 14.8cm. I'd recommend going for a standard A5 insert here, which makes shopping for refills much easier. The only issue with the Planner is the non-standard punching. Off-the-shelf A5 inserts will not fit. Instead, the Planner uses the personal-sized punch spacing.

Do you need inserts for your Mulberry planner? No problem! Just get in touch if you need a custom size or different punching.
